Trabzonspor striker Marc Janko made a 'come and get me' plea to Celtic in January, and watching him finish a beautiful piece of play, it begs the question, why didn't they?

30-year-old Marc Jenko, a former Porto striker, was the man in the headlines as Austria battled superbly to earn a well-fought draw against World Cup dark horses Uruguay.

The Trabzonspor striker finished an excellent passing move that split open a highly-rated Uruguayan defence that included Liverpool target Diego Godin.

A target for Celtic previously in 2009, he tried to amend bridges in the latest window, claiming: 'if Celtic are looking for a striker to score goals then tell them I would honestly walk to Glasgow from Turkey to join.

'If I was to get the chance to talk with Celtic again, I would be interested.

'I was in Glasgow to meet with Gordan Strachan in 2009 but I always remember meeting with Mr Lennon at the same time in the manager's office. I got on well with him.'

The 6ft 5in striker blames his former club Salzburg for the breakdown in the move to Scotland, insisting it was neither him or the SPL side at fault.

With a striker very much on Lennon's shopping list in the summer, should Celtic move for the tall Austrian with a vast of European experience?
