Rocksteady: Arkham Knight 5 times the size of Akham City

Batman Arkham Knight

Developer spills the beans on its return to its popular Batman series; promises formidable original baddie.

The Gotham city that gamers will be zip-lining through in Arkham Knight will be five times the size of what players saw in the previous game, Arkham City, according to game director Sefton Hill.

Speaking to GameInformer (via Eurogamer), the developer explained that Rocksteady wasn't aiming to make the largest open-world game ever, but instead was looking to make a dense and layered city.

Additionally, the city will be a feast for the eyes, with the power of the Xbox One and PS4 being put to good use.

"One character is as big as the polygon count of Arkham City - the whole environment," revealed lead character artist Albert Feliu.

Rocksteady also plans to end its Arkham series with a bang, having created its own villain for the caped crusader to square off against.

"We wanted to introduce someone who could really challenge Batman, to go head-to-head with him in lots of different ways," commented Hill.

Another piece of news that will likely be welcomed by fans, voice actor Kevin Conroy will reprise his role of Bruce Wayne and Batman, having stepped aside for Batman: Arkham Origins, which was handled by another developer and received a lukewarm reception.

Conroy provided his voice for both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, having been the established mouthpiece of Batman since the iconic 1990s animated series.

Earlier this week the Batman: Arkham Knight trailer was revealed: take a look again.
