Last night was, all in all, a pretty good one for the Manchester United players in international action. Shinji Kagawa inspired a rampant Japan against New Zealand. Maraoune Fellaini bagged a goal against Ivory Cost for Belgium while Antonio Valencia provided the two late assists that saw Ecuador come back from 3-0 down to beat Australia 4-3.
OK so Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney were pretty woeful in their respective games but overall it wasn’t that bad.
Although Patrice Evra suffered a moment he would rather forget.
Although he will be happy with Les Bleus’ comfortable 2-0 victory over rivals Holland in Paris - he himself had a rather uncomfortable moment.
He got the big boots of Netherlands powerhouse Quincy Promes right in the nose during the first-half yesterday - but thankfully no lasting damage was done.
Although many a French follower would not have minded seeing the incident.
Evra has become unpopular with one pocket of French supporters over the years for his outspoken views - and was recently criticised for publicly lambasting French legend Bixente Lizarazu in a French TV interview.
Whether that is what his former United team-mate Mikael Silvestre was referring to with this Tweet we will leave you to decide…
OUCH ! Patrice Evra takes a full-on boot to the face!! A lot of people will want to see this! This has got to hurt!…http://t.co/xwsysOIfwx”— Mikael Silvestre (@IamMSilvestre) March 5, 2014
