A round up of the latest news stories and transfer rumours about Liverpool from the past 24 hours.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has implied that success is more than about simply winning silverware. The boss has suggested that there’s no point having an academy and youth system unless a club intends to use it.
“There’s no point in having a youth system and an academy system in place if you’re not going to look from within. For me and how I work, it’s part of my definition of success,” he told LFCTV GO.
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge says he will go all out to fit into any system used by England boss Roy Hodgson. Sturridge bagged the only goal of the game as England defeated Denmark last night.
“Whichever system the manager plays me in, I will put my all into it, 100 per cent,” he told ITV.
Raheem Sterling has also come in for praise following the England game with teammate Jordan Henderson stating nothing fazes the young winger.
“It shows you how well we have done this season - Nothing fazes Raheem. He was outstanding and hopefully he can continue playing like that between now and the end of the season,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
In transfer news, the agent of Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan has confirmed that there has been a Premier League offer for his client. The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in the past.
“We have received an offer from an English club. We will see. Arda is playing at a big club with big goals and wants to be a part of their success,” Ahmet Bulut told Mundo Deportivo.
Liverpool youngster Suso is being widely linked with a permanent switch to Sevilla. The midfielder is on loan in La Liga with Almeria and latest reports suggest that Sevilla are looking to snap him up at the end of the season. However, it’s not clear how or where the rumours started.
In other news, reports suggest that Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign defender Martin Montoya from Barcelona at the end of the season. The 22-year-old was strongly linked with an Anfield switch last January but it now appears that former Barca boss Pep Guardiola is ready to try and tempt him to the Allianz Arena.
Luis Suarez has handed Liverpool a boost through comments that he won’t leave the club, even if Brendan Rodgers’ side fail to make the top four by the end of the season.
“I signed my new contract because I’m very happy here and I want to stay where I’m enjoying football and life. Playing in the Champions League isn’t dependent on that,” said the striker.
In other news, a Liverpool fan has prepared a banner ahead of the Manchester United game at Old Trafford mocking United boss David Moyes. The banner displays a ‘football genius’ message connected to the Scot after United have struggled through the season.
