A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Thursday morning after the midweek international friendlies.
Henderson told the Liverpool Echo after the game: “Raheem has been fantastic for us at Liverpool and he was again tonight.
“He was really positive and wants to get on the ball all the time and get at players.
“Nothing fazes Raheem. He was outstanding and hopefully he can continue playing like that between now and the end of the season.”
Henderson and Sterling were two of the five players who were part of the England side last night. Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson also featured whilst Daniel Sturridge scored a late winner for the three lions.
Daniel Sturridge told ITV after the game last night saying it doesn’t matter where he plays for England, after playing much of the game out wide before being moved inside in the second half.
Sturridge said: “It doesn’t matter where I play on the field, I have to make a difference and make an impact by helping the team to get goals and assists, regardless of the positions I’m in. It’s about the team and doing a job for the team.”
Amongst the other players on international duty, Daniel Agger was captain for Denmark last night, whilst Luis Suarez played 90 minutes for Uruguay in their 1-1 draw against Austria.
Joe Allen played 90 minutes in Wales’ 3-1 against Iceland, as did Kolo Toure in the Ivory Coast’s 2-2 draw against Belgium – where goalkeeper Simon Mignolet was an unused substitute.
Martin Skrtel played just over an hour for Slovakia as they beat Israel 3-1, Brad Jones played the final half an hour in Australia’s 4-3 loss to Ecuadaor.
