Arsenal morning news: Wilshere injury 'only a bruise' and Ozil assist

Mesut Ozil had some joy last night - as he picked up an assist whilst on international duty with Germany last night.

The Arsenal playmaker has struggled for form recently but he provided the pass that lead to Mario Gotze’s goal in the 1-0 win against Chile last night.

Arsenal fans will hope this is the start of a turnaround in fortunes at club level for their record singing - as the title begins to slip through their grasp.

He wasn’t the only Arsenal player in good nick last night. Tomas Rosicky and Park Chu-Young both found the back of the net with Czech Republic and South Korea respectively - whilst overnight Joel Campbell also scored.

The loaned out Olympiakos star scored for Costa Rica in their impressive 2-1 win against Paraguay.

Roberto Martinez has confirmed that he is not necessarily looking forward to taking on The Gunners in the FA Cup this weekend.

The Everton boss takes his team to The Emirates on Saturday lunchtime - and said of the game:

"If you wanted to find a bad time to play them, now is probably the moment. The worst thing in football – and probably life – is the unknown.”

Jack Wilshere hobbled out of action for England last night - after Danish defender Daniel Agger ran through him with a strong tackle in the 12th minute of an international friendly.

The Liverpool star caught him flush on the meta-tarsal - but Wilshere, after a couple of minutes of rolling around in agony, played on.

He then reportedly told Sky News after the game:

“I'm fine. It's a bit sore but it's only a bruise. I've had a scan already and it showed just a bruise, so I'll be alright.”

Meanwhile Laurent Koscielny also suffered an injury on international duty. The Frenchman suffered a hamstring tweak in training for Les Bleus.

However it is not reported to be serious - and the hope is he will return for the Everton game on Saturday.
