Arsenal fans react to Ozil performance for Germany - 'Best I've seen him in a Germany shirt'

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil produced the assist which led to Germany's winner against Chile.

Mesut Ozil put recent troubles behind for at least one match last night as he produced an assist for Mario Gotze in Germany’s 1-0 win over Chile.

The midfielder hasn’t been at his best since the turn of the year, with the dip in form being put down to a variety of different reasons.

The midfielder was allowed to get away from Premier League life for the different type of pressure which comes hand in hand for any player representing their country at international level.

He thrived on it producing one of his better performances for some time as Germany secured the win against a very dangerous opponent.

Arsene Wenger and Arsenal fans will now be hoping that the German can build on his performance last night heading into important FA Cup, Champions League and Premier League games.

There’s very little turnaround time for him as he heads back to London with the Gunners taking on Everton in the FA Cup this weekend before the return leg in the Champions League at Bayern Munich this Tuesday.

Following that the Gunners take on Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City in three of their next four games.

Most importantly, the mental relief he’s likely to have got from his performance last night is something which can help him moving forward over the next couple of weeks.

There could have been a few doubts starting to creep into his mindset but his confidence will now have received a little boost.

He’s guaranteed a starting place against Everton this weekend if Wenger feels he’s recovered from the effects of international duty.

It may not even be a bad idea for the Arsenal boss to wrap him up in cotton wool this weekend, saving him for the game against Bayern Munich and allowing him to enjoy that feeling of confidence again.

Here’s what Arsenal fans made of his performance for the Germans last night.
