Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has had a tricky past couple of months for the Gunners, but he has immediately put that behind him on international duty.
The record £42.4m summer signing started his debut season for the Gunners in style, helping the club quickly top the Premier League table.
The German international was lauded by fans and pundits alike for his eye-catching performances and ability to play wonderful through balls to his fellow teammates. However, since the turn of the year it hasn’t been so good.
Bayern Munich’s recent victory over Arsenal was the low-point in Ozil’s short career in England, as he missed an early penalty and was subsequently dropped to the bench for Arsenal’s following Premier League games against Sunderland and Stoke City.
With pressure to rediscover his game ahead of the World Cup, Germany’s friendly with Chile can be the perfect opportunity to make a start.
Within the first 20 minutes of the game, Ozil collected the ball inside the penalty area, turned a defender before laying the ball off to Mario Gotze. From just in front of the penalty spot, the Bayern Munch star was never going to miss as he picked his spot high into the roof of the net.
With Chile fielding an impressive side, there are surely more goals to follow in this one.
