Reasons to sweat for Mourinho, Rodgers and Wenger - Barca WILL make two signings in summer

Barcelona's president Josep Bartomeu has confirmed his side will be in the market for two signings this summer.

Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has confirmed that the Spanish champions will be making at least two signings this summer; a goalkeeper and a central defender.

The comments have been widely reported in the Spanish press after Carles Puyol confirmed he would be joining Victor Valdes in leaving the Nou Camp at the end of this season.

“There will be at least two signings: a goalkeeper and a central defender,” Bartomeu is quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

The news is significant for several Premier League teams who all have players in those positions linked with moves to Spain at some point over the course of this season.

In terms of goalkeepers, Chelsea will be nervous and edgy until they can get the talented Thibaut Courtois away from Spain and back to the safety of West London and Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe at the moment and his age, 21-years-old, means it’s only natural Barca will look at him as a long term option.

Another Chelsea star, David Luiz, has also been linked with the club with fresh reports this morning suggesting a £25 million offer is possible.

Barca saw a bid for Luiz knocked back last summer but they could have another go at nabbing the Brazilian before or after the World Cup.

Arsenal and Liverpool are the other two sides who will probably be a slight twitchy at these comments.

The Gunners have seen Thomas Vermaelen routinely linked with the Nou Camp while Liverpool have already knocked back an approach from the Spanish champions for Daniel Agger.

It’s unlikely to be the last time that any of these sides will have to contend with some of their best players linked with moves to Spain.
