Toni Kroos could be the latest name to get Manchester united fans excited over his potential arrival, only to break those over-inflated hearts by opting to remain at Bayern Munich or head elsewhere.
The German international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time, with contract negotiations at the Allianz Arena reportedly at something of an impasse, and David Moyes recently photographed in the company of Kroos’s agent.
But if the 24-year-old really does leave Bayern this summer, there could be a spanner in the works if United plan on recruiting him, with Spanish newspaper Sport reporting that Barcelona are interested.
The publication cites Kicker as the origin for the stories, claiming that while United and Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close eye on Kroos’s situation, Barca have now joined the queue.
If true, it would be no surprise given the player’s talent. If United can somehow get their man they would be signing one of Europe’s most exciting and able midfielders who would instantly transform the centre of their team.
But as the season draws to a close, and as long as the player fails to put pen to paper at Bayern, expect more and more of Europe’s biggest clubs to be linked with him. He really is that good.
