All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

The Express reports on a recent Q&A with Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, in which he said that being African Footballer of the Year was not a hindrance.

When asked if it was, he reportedly said, “No, it’s something positive, because it tells me that I’m working hard and that I’m on the right path.”

The Ivory Coast international also spoke about the upcoming World Cup.

I think that the goal of Africa today is to get to the semi-finals or maybe the final,” he said. “Without underestimating our adversaries, there’s Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and plus, it’s in South America, so it’s going to be very, very complicated. But, we don’t know.

“The most important thing for us is to take things a step at a time.”

Toure and his Ivory Coast teammates face Belgium in an international friendly later today.

In other news, City defender Aleksandar Kolarov believes the club may have to win all their remaining league games to be crowned champions.

In quotes published by FourFourTwo, the Serb said, “This is the important stage of the season and we have to hold our nerve.

“It is the team that handles the pressure better that will win.

“We might need to play every single team we play between now and the end of the season to win the Premier League.”

It is certainly possible given the players at Manuel Pellegrini’s disposal, but with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool pushing hard for the title, it will be anything but easy.

And finally City youngster Emyr Huws has told the Manchester Evening News that EDS coach Patrick Vieira wants him to play like Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets.

Patrick has been great with me. He has been a mentor and has improved my game a lot,” Huws said.

He wants me to play like Busquets and he thinks I can do that. He’s probably the best defensive midfielder in the world.”

If Vieira can somehow inspire Huws to replicate that, City will possess another outstanding option in the centre of the park.
