A round up of the latest news stories and transfer rumours about Liverpool from the past 24 hours.
Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has confirmed the club are yet to make him the offer of a new contract. The right-back’s current deal expires in 2015 but the England man says no offer has been made to him over a renewal.
“I've loved every minute of the five years I've been here and I'd love to stay but really the only truth in it is that I've not been offered a new contract on any level,” he told the Daily Mail.
Johnson has also suggested that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is better in terms of man management than his previous coach Jose Mourinho.
“Brendan wouldn’t do [what Mourinho did]. He’s shown that if you’re good enough you’re old enough and you’ll play in the big games if you deserve to. So in terms of man-management, Brendan is definitely better,” said the defender.
Luis Suarez has revealed that he’s a very calm character away from the pitch. Suarez has been caught up in on the field incidents throughout his career but says he’s not at all controversial away from football.
“On the pitch, I argue, I shout, I talk rubbish and generally do anything I can to get ahead. I'm totally different. I forget about everything else, sometimes I'm a bit embarrassed by all the shouting when I see it back,” he told FourFourTwo.
Suarez has also revealed that he’d prefer not to win the Premier League golden boot if it meant Liverpool qualifying for the Champions League. He also suggested that he would stay at Anfield beyond this season even if Liverpool failed to finish inside the top four.
In one of the more random stories from the day, Suarez has suggested that he would make a better SAS soldier than Daniel Sturridge. The pair have become known as SAS due to their prolific partnership in Liverpool’s attack.
“I’d say me, I’m older and you always need experience in an army!” he added in the FourFourTwo interview.
In transfer news, Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan has hinted a future move to Anfield is possible. Liverpool missed out on the 25-year-old last summer when Dortmund completed a £24.4 million deal.
“Can I see myself at Liverpool in the future? You know that it doesn't depend entirely on me. But this is life and everything is possible,” he told Sport-Express.ru.
The club have been linked with a £10 million move for Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette. Rodgers’ club are expected to move for the young striker in the summer. He was linked with a move to North London with Arsenal last January.
In other news, video has emerged of the interview Liverpool owner John Henry gave when he confirmed Arsenal did meet Luis Suarez’ buy out clause last summer. The Gunners bid £40 million and £1 for the striker which the American has confirmed his club ignored.
