Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Kallstrom debut reports

Arsenal's deadline day signing Kim Kallstrom is being tipped to return.

Arsene Wenger probably knows already that he has a lot riding on the success of Kim Kallstrom. Already derided as a flop for being injured for the period he was brought in to cover, the Swede faces an uphill battle to prove the doubters wrong.

The good news is that Kallstrom has the pedigree to do so, an international with more than 100 caps and Champions League experience.

His biggest offence isn't that he has been injured, it's that he is a midfielder rather than a striker. He was loaned in really as a luxury cover, as the club do have many options in the centre - unlike up front - where the club started Yaya Sanogo in a crucial Champions League match, an inexperienced player who has never scored for Arsenal.

Reports over the past 24 hours have indicated Kallstrom's return from a fractured back sustained before the loan move, is imminent.

He is at present claimed to be in contention for the clash with Everton, and failing that either the Champions League away game to Bayern or the North London Derby could see him make an appearance, even if only as a substitute.

His signing and subsequent injury was one of the biggest talking points of a damp squib of a transfer deadline day, and having seen his name fall off the radar in the following weeks while he recuperated from his injury, Kallstrom's name is back in the headlines.

What Arsenal fans are supposed to make of it all is unclear. With Aaron Ramsey coming back it's arguable they don't really need him, while Wenger's claim that he could score the title winning goal at this point looks a weak justification for his addition.

We took a look at what fans had to say about his impending debut via Twitter, and here is a mixed selection of views:
