The Daily Telegraph reports that Blackburn owners, the Venkys are set to offer the Scottish international a bumper new deal, within the region of £8 million.
The ex Huddersfield Town goal machine has had a quiet spell of late, not scoring in his last 9 games, and has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, with sides such as Fulham and West Ham United known to have an interest in Rhodes.
Blackburn boss Gary Bower was adamant that Rhodes would be back in form in no time:
"I spoke with him and the positive, the massive positive, is that there is a glut of goals coming from Jordan Rhodes."
"It depends on how you interpret it or look at it. I look at it as a massive positive for us that we can look forward to and welcome him scoring goals again soon," Bower explained to the Lancashire Telegraph
Despite his recent goal drought Rhodes is one of the most sought after strikers outside the Premier League as he has hit 139 goals in his 263 appearances to date. The timing of the contract talks appears to be odd as he currently has three years left on his deal.
It has been reported that the contract could be announced before Saturday's clash with local rivals, Burnley.
Blackburn will hope that the new deal can spark some add emphasis into Rhodes's performance as Rovers are heavily reliant on the Scot's goals.
