The Manchester United striker reportedly refused to answer questions about his club's current situation.
Robin van Persie’s quotes regarding Manchester United have been in the press a lot recently.
And perhaps it was because he has learned from that, or perhaps he simply wanted to focus on international matters, but the Dutch striker refused to be drawn on anything United-related during this international break according to website AD.
When asked about United’s recent struggles and their Champions League loss to Olympiakos, Van Persie is quoted as saying, “We are here in Orange. Let’s talk about that.”
He did have plenty to say about his Holland teammates, but of his United ones, of all things United in fact, he kept his counsel.
Van Persie has been in the news recently for his comments following that Champions League loss, and how he felt his teammates were often occupying the same positions as him on the pitch and that he needed to modify his game as a result.
The Dutch striker played a vital role in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final league triumph. But this season, the former Arsenal striker has been blighted by injury although he has still almost invariably found the net whenever he has been on the pitch.
Perhaps he has decided to do his talking on the pitch. United fans will certainly be hoping so.
