Toni Kroos makes two admissions which will please Manchester United

Manchester United's top transfer target has given an interview in Germany.

David Moyes appears determined to land Toni Kroos this summer, and will be interested to hear of his latest comments.

Kroos spoke to German magazine Kicker about his future this week, and made two statements which could bode well for Manchester United.

The first relates to finances. While it had been rumoured and widely believed higher wages lie behind his future being unresolved, he has admitted so publicly for the first time.

"It's certainly not just about money, it would not be my character, but of course it's also about (money), otherwise I'd be lying."

His comment gives United hope because if Kroos was judging from a sporting point of view, United would be out of the race by now, given they are set not even to be in the Champions League next season.

Financially they have shown they can compete with anybody, illustrated by the wages of £300,000 per week which Wayne Rooney will earn thanks to his new contract.

The factor of money gives United a chance against Bayern in persuading him, and as their top target they are likely to pull out all the stops.

The second fascinating comment from Kroos came when he was quizzed if Real Madrid and Barcelona were interested.

Kicker write: "Kroos denied and did not confirmed this name, he says only: "There are not many clubs in question."

It's a further hint his choice is simply a battle between Manchester United and Bayern Munich, still a difficult choice but a less complicated one.

Whether his choice to put this off until the end of the season will lead to more clubs making firm enquiries is another matter.

As for a deadline, Kroos was reluctant to set one. He stated he wanted to be focused ahead of the World Cup, but didn't want to dictate that his future must be resolved ahead of it.

He has shown he can set the uncertainty aside to produce blistering performances in the Champions League and Bundesliga last month, and could even increase his negotiating potential and earning power at the tournament in Brazil.
