Perfect Manchester United midfield target slams 'ridiculous' La Liga reports

Arturo Vidal

Arturo Vidal has scotched suggestions he is on the move to Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Ahead of Chile's international fixture with Germany, Arturo Vidal was keen to set the record straight regarding recent rumours about his future.

He had in the last week been linked by the Spanish press with extravagant moves to Real Madrid and even Barcelona.

But the Juventus midfielder certainly isn't taking them seriously at all.

He told Italian newspaperCorriere dello Sport: "I'm at Real Madrid or Barcelona? This is ridiculous.

"It does not exist. I want to win the championship with Juventus and then make a good World Cup."

Seemingly the regular links with Manchester United, with David Moyes said to have enquired in January, were not put to him - or he did not deem the Red Devils worthy even of a mention.

Tempting Vidal away would be the ultimate coup for any club, and surely the only reason he would leave is to fill a big blot on his CV - a lack of a Champions League trophy.

Vidal netted five goals from midfield in six group stage games this season but could not stop Juventus dropping down to the Europa League.

Manchester United look unable to offer that next season, and may well have already realised, that if the La Liga giants can't turn the Chilean's head, what chance do they really have?
