Upcoming Xbox One Games 2014 (Part Three)

Xbox One System

Part three of our upcoming Xbox One games of 2014 brings you an age of dragons, and a Snake.

So, we’re well into our top games for this year, and there’s triple-A titles a-plenty. But, the best and most anticipated games don’t always require a multi-million pound budget, as you’ll see further down – check out our next set of hot games below.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes – 18 March US 2014 / 20 March 2014 Europe

Snake is back and he’s never looked so good, well, in the graphical sense of the word, of course! Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is set to be a prologue, or taster, to the highly-anticipated Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain out later this year. The creator of the Metal Gear Solid series and head of Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima, explained that “There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential. As such, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game will offer.”

Yes, it's in Japanese - just enjoy the eye-candy, yeah?

Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain – TBA. Although a release date is yet to be announced, the game ties-in with Ground Zeroes so I wanted to fit it in here. Plus I didn't want to deny you more footage of Snake, that would be terrible!

The main event – following on from the prologue that will be Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be the new, fully-realised, Metal Gear experience mentioned above. Introducing an open-world environment for the first time, and bringing back well-loved characters; Kazuria Miller, Ocelot, and Emmerich! Unfortunately David Hayter will not be reprising the role of Snake this time around, that honour goes to none other than ‘Mr 24’ himself, Kiefer Sutherland.

Dragon Age: Inquisition – Autumn 2014

Fancy yourself a slayer of all things fantasy and magical? The third instalment to the Dragon Age series looks to have you appeased. Dragon Age: Inquisition plays out during dark times in the land of Thedas, all-out war is everywhere, with rival factions and nations vying for blood. The creators of the Dragon Age series, Bioware, are synonymous with rich, deep worlds, and character-driven stories. The choices you make will shape how the game plays out, and how the world looks. I was a little disappointed with the last game, due to its less tactical-focus than the first – let’s hope they get the balance right this time around, because it looks great.

Super Time Force - 2014

Don’t let the 8-bit aesthetic blind you, this isn’t your average pixelated 2D shooter. Super Time Force has something new and exciting going for it – ‘single player co-op’. You read that right, so keep those glasses in their case. It works like this - each time you die in the game, you go back and start with the ghost of your previous self, who will play out their life whilst you play along with them, creating ‘single-player co-op’, say the developers. So you die once, you start again with a ghost, you die again, you start out with 2 ghosts, and so on until you hit the 30-life limit.

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition – TBC 2014

Not much is known about the Xbox One edition of Minecraft, other than it’ll have larger worlds, and larger multiplayer. But if you haven’t heard of Minecraft before, I will assume you have only just arrived on Earth, and therefore I wish to welcome you to our block-obsessed planet.

There are still plenty of games to look forward to this year, and we'll be updating you in part four of this series on Monday, so stick around! If you're hungry for more, why not check out part one and two of our upcoming Xbox One games for 2014.
