Daniele De Rossi has never been a player to take a step back in the face of confrontation and has had controversies and ill-discipline his career.
The Roma midfielder was a summer target for Manchester United, but instead opted to stay for his hometown club.
The dynamic midfielder has 93 caps to his name and is set to be an important man for Italy at this summer’s World Cup, but he will not face Spain at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday.
De Rossi was caught punching striker Mauro Icardi in Roma’s 0-0 draw with Inter over the weekend, which went unpunished from the referee.
However, the 30-year-old is expected to be retrospectively dealt with, and will sit out of the fixture against Spain as due to the incident also.
Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has left other players such as Mario Balotelli out of his squads in the past due to a lack of discipline and it appears that De Rossi will need to be on his best behaviour to step out for the Azzurri this summer.
