Lazar Markovic has won another accolade to boost his impressive CV.
Benfica star Lazar Markovic has been rewarded for his dazzling displays over the past month by being voted the best player in the league.
The Serbian won 24.5 per cent of the vote against his fellow professionals, with the award covering February and late January for which there was not an award due to the winter break.
His closest rival, Evandro of Estoril, won just 12.45 per cent of the total vote, reported O Jogo.
He has two goals in his last two league games, the latter being a spectacular lob finish against Guimares (seen below).
If he wants a move to Chelsea, he will still need to show more consistency, with an eight game spell at the end of last year and beginning of this with no goals and just one assist.
Yet his recent headline grabbing strikes have given him the impetus to kick on, and while we expect him to remain at Benfica at least another year, the recent award will give him even more reason to keep up his high level of performance.
