It has been a relatively quiet day in terms of news regarding Arsenal, but that is no surprise given the international fixtures this week.
“We know that Arsenal play good football but when you start kicking them a little bit, it gets harder for them.
“They don’t like it. We know that. We don’t care. We’ll keep on doing it, being strong and trying to be as good as we can be on the ball.
“It is not a surprise they have been moaning because they have plenty of technical players.”
It is a bold and honest assessment of the tactics deployed against Arsene Wenger’s side, but with the Potters coming out 1-0 winners, it appeared to work.
Saturday’s defeat meant Arsenal fell four points behind Chelsea and saw Liverpool leapfrog them in the Premier League. And Arsenal could find themselves fourth once Manuel Pellegrini’s side have played their games in hand.
But the season is far from over; in fact the Gunners could still claim at least one piece of silverware, they just need to play like they were in the earlier months of the campaign.
Although they may have another problem, with Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood hoping to “mess up” a few of his rivals’ seasons.
In quotes published by the Independent, Sherwood said, “Games against Chelsea at the Bridge, Arsenal at the Emirates and Liverpool at Anfield, perhaps the pressure’s off us a little bit and we can cause a surprise.
“We’re looking to mess up as many other people’s seasons as we can, and enhance ours at the same time.”
Arsenal, on the other hand, will be doing everything they can to ensure Spurs do not beat them to a Champions League place, which appears unlikely but is not yet impossible.
