Manchester United are currently in the market for a replacement for outgoing skipper Nemanja Vidic, who will leave Old Trafford this summer.
Although a host of experienced players have been mentioned in the media as potential replacements, David Moyes is also thought to be looking at a number of up-and-coming young stars from the continent.
It is believed that the current Premier League champions have been scouting Martin Hinteregger, who has been impressing with Austrian side FC Red Bull Salzburg.
The 21-year-old made his senior national debut last year and is attracting interest from teams in the major European leagues.
With the athletic defender looking set to move to a bigger club this summer, his agent has stated the fee that will be necessary for Hinteregger to move.
“There are so many interested clubs that have asked me about the boy, but then again, there is nothing official,” Frank Schreirer told Lalaziosiamonoi.
“I think Salzburg will ask for not less than 10m and I think that currently they do not have any intention of selling him.”
For a player that looks capable of fitting into Premier League football, €10 million is a relatively modest fee.
United are expected to spend big in the summer and as such Hinteregger could well be on Moyes’ wishlist.
