Chelsea have been linked with signing Diego Costa all season, and they have just received a seal of approval from one of their former forwards.
The Atletico Madrid striker has been praised by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who himself spent a single season at the Vicente Calderon.
The Dutchman told AS: "Atletico has always had great strikers who have scored many goals: Vieri, Torres, Aguero ... Diego Costa and now he's a phenomenal striker. He is a great player who works hard. I like him a lot, has great quality and is very strong."
Another player namechecked by Hasselbaink also stands out, Fernando Torres, who built his reputation at Atletico Madrid before moving to Liverpool.
Now he is a shadow of that player, netting just six Premier League strikes all season, which is why Chelsea have been linked with signing Diego Costa to replace him.
Costa has a huge game on Sunday night, facing Real Madrid in a pivotal game in the La Liga title race. Nothing would prove his credentials more than him firing a second successive league winner over the league leaders.
With a strike rate of 27 goals in 35 games this season, you would be hard pressed to bet against him making an impact and justifying Hasselbaink's hype.
