The Ghanaian international made his Gunners breakthrough as a teenager in 2011 - but a torrid time with injuries has certainly delayed his progression into the tough combative midfielder he certainly could have been if he remained injury free.
Now he has decided it is time for a permanent change in scenery - after previously heading out on loan to Wolves, Charlton and Fulham.
The Tykes are currently in a four way fight against relegation along with Yeovil, Millwall, Charlton and Doncaster Rovers - and Frimpong is supposed to be helping.
But we feel he would have to admit it has not gone according to plan just yet.
He was sent off on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday and yesterday things did not go to plan either.
Barnsley were thrashed by Huddersfield Town 5-0 yesterday - and Frimpong was subbed off after 77 minutes as his new side slipped to the bottom of the Championship table.
And we don’t think he will be inviting his cousin up to watch any more of his game sin the future.
His cousin is of course famous MC Lethal Bizzle - who is credited with the invention of the word ‘Dench’ along with Frimpong.
Yesterday he went to check out Frimpong in action - and would have not been impressed with what he saw.
In fact, this Tweet about sums it up…
Went to my first Barnsley game today. They lost 5-0.— Lethal Bizzle (@LethalBizzle) March 1, 2014
