Bayern star Muller sends warning to Arsenal - as they have just one focus now

Thomas Muller believes the Bundesliga is now won - so Bayern Munich can now focus on cup success.

As Arsenal toiled to an away defeat at Stoke City - their Champions League opponents were having a much more enjoyable day of top flight action.

Bayern welcomed one of the Bundesliga’s top teams to the Allianz Arena in the form of Schalke 04 - and duly sent them back to Gelsenkirchen with tails firmly between legs.

Bayern were 4-0 up by half-time and went on to win the game 5-1 - Schalke’s second heavy defeat in a matter of days - as they pulled away from the chasing pack even further yesterday.

Bayer Leverkusen lost to Mainz yesterday - meaning Bayern are now a whopping 20 points clear of Borussia Dortmund in second place and on the verge of completing yet another rampant season.

But one Bayern player was already pretty adamant that the Bundesliga campaign was already wrapped up - even before they dealt out their thrashing against Schalke.

German international forward Thomas Muller, who scored the second goal at The Emirates in the recent 2-0 Arsenal defeat, was speaking to German station TZ before the game with Schalke - and made it clear that they were not going to lose the title from their current position.

He stated:

"Realistically in terms of the championship it has already been decided also on this day. I do not think anyone expects that we will lose six of (our last) twelve games when in the last 22 we have lost a single one."

And, unfortunately for Arsenal fans, he is right.

The Bundesliga title is now wrapped up - as 20 points is an insurmountable lead at the top of the table.

That means Bayern can put almost all of their focus in to the DFB-Pokal and of course the Champions League.

Players can be rotated and kept fresh for the big cup games - meanwhile Arsenal’s attempts at rotation would simply see them fall clear of the Premier League title chase.

Bayern are in the driving seat - and Arsenal will need nothing short of a miracle to overcome the deficit against a fresh Bavarian side at the Allianz Arena this month.
