£12m Liverpool 'top transfer target' scores in 6-2 thrashing

Roberto Firmino opened the scoring today for Hoffenheim as they thrashed VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga

This weekend saw Liverpool go second in the Premier League - and reports in the week suggested they were looking toward the summer already.

It was reported in The Mirror that the club had already decided on their ‘top transfer target’ for the summer - in the form of Robert Firmino.

The 22-year-old Brazilian, reportedly valued at £12 million, has been in great form this season for TSG Hoffenheim - and Liverpool feel he fits in the Brendan Rodgers mould perfectly.

The attacking midfielder has bagged 12 goals and eight assists in his 22 Bundesliga games this season - impressive figures indeed.

And today saw him bag his twelfth by scoring the opener against VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg are chasing Champions League football this season - while Hoffenheim have plodded along in mid-table for much of the season.

So this was not an expected result - as Hoffenheim thrashed Wolfsburg, including former Chelsea player Kevin De Bruyne, 6-2 at the Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena.

Firmino got the ball rolling - with a delicate finesse finish, on the volley, after a clever pass from Anthony Modeste.

It was a cute goal - and one Liverpool fans would like to see on a regular basis at Anfield no doubt.
