Southampton scouting €25m-valued Portuguese starlet

Rafa Silva has been one of Portuguese football's most in form players - can Southampton snap him up?

It is early days yet - and Southampton still have a season to finish, but now that it seems Mauricio Pochettino is content at the club under new ownership he is planning for next season.

The Saints have been superb this term - and the relegation worries of past season are now well and truly behind them.

So next year a push for Europe is of course the natural progression for this talented Southampton side - who this week celebrated having FOUR players in the England squad for the friendly against Denmark.

And one player they are reportedly ready to splash out in that pursuit is SC Braga attacker Rafa.

The winger - who can also carry out a job in the central attacking midfield role - arrived at the AXA Stadium last summer from second division outfit CD Feirense and the 20-year-old has been in top form since.

He has scored three goals for the club in his 18 league appearances since his arrival - and at the age of just 20-years-old he is also a prospect for the future.

Portuguese source Record believe that Southampton have already scouted the player - but they have serious competition for his services from the Bundesliga.

The talented youngster was reportedly the subject of a €5 million bid from the German outfit Bayer Leverkusen in Germany - while Sevilla of La Liga are also keen.

Southampton have money to spend - although will not want to meet his release clause of €25 million considering his relative inexperience.

Rafa could be a perfect addition to the Southampton team - as the futures of Pablo Osvaldo and Gaston Ramirez appear to be in doubt at St Marys.

Check him out in action…including bagging a few goals against Premier League rivals during pre-season…
