Here are the ratings for Brendan Rodgers side...
Simon Mignolet 8 – Mignolet had a good display tonight even though he made some questionable decisions with regards to catching and punching. His save from Jay Rodriguez in the first half displayed outstanding reflexes to keep Liverpool in the lead.
John Flanagan 7 – Flanagan's run in the team continued with another decent display against Southampton, showing the effort and commitment that has made him a fans favourite at Anfield.
Martin Skrtel 8 – Dominating centre back Skrtel had another impress outing at St. Mary's, as he won every single aerial duel – no mean feat considering he was up against a physical striker like Rickie Lambert.
Daniel Agger 7 – Agger had a solid game in the Liverpool defence, but the question marks over his aerial ability continue after winning just 50% of his aerial battles tonight.
Glen Johnson 7 – Johnson defended well considering he was playing out of position again, and got forward to support the attack well, as he usual does for the Reds.
Joe Allen 7 – Allen worked hard in the Liverpool engine room without having too much of an impact on the game either going forward or defensively, but considering how much criticism he gets from Liverpool fans, it was a solid display.
Steven Gerrard 8 – Gerrard, like Allen, had a decent game in the Liverpool midfield and scored a 94th minute peantly, but gave the ball away a little more than usual and committed a cynical foul on Adam Lallana late in the game.
Jordan Henderson 7 – Henderson didn't manage to get on the scoresheet tonight but continued his renaissance with the Reds with another fine display, getting into good attacking positions and putting balls into the box.
Philippe Coutinho 7 – it wasn't the Brazilian's finest night in a Liverpool shirt, but he still showed the vision, passing and all round creativity to be a dangerous force behind the front two.
Luis Suarez 9 – everything the Uruguayan touches turns to gold. He showed outstanding opportunism to bag his opening goal, before bamboozling Dejan Lovren and setting up Raheem Sterling's clincher.
Daniel Sturridge 6 – the other half of 'SAS' had a frustrating night, failing to capitalise on big chances and giving up possession with poor control. Just one of those nights for the England international.
Raheem Sterling 8 – Sterling's impact after coming on for Coutinho was instantaneous, turning home Luis Suarez's pull back to but Liverpool 2-0 up.
Iago Aspas – didn't have enough time to make a real impact on the game.
