'Embarrassment to pub players' - Lineker lays into Torres and Stekelenburg on Twitter

Gary Lineker pulled no punches in his assesment of a moment of madness for both keeper and striker in this game.

Chelsea have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table after they defeated relegation threatened Fulham at Craven Cottage.

After a dire first half Chelsea came alive after the break - with an Andre Schurrle hat-trick doing the damage in a 3-1 victory in the West London Derby.

But the first half was not without entertainment - step forward the comedy troupe of Fernando Torres and Maarten Stekelenburg.

The Dutch stopper has been iffy this season, and he dawdled over a clearance for The Cottagers today which saw him closed down swifter than expected by Torres.

The ball rocketed into the air; the two ran around like a pair of clowns Torres got the ball under control stood their shocked for a while before clumsily clattering the ball aimlessly away from everything.

It truly was a poor display of football from both players - and a minute period they will both want to forget.

Match of the Day presenter and former professional goal-poacher Gary Lineker was equally as unimpressed with the display - stating on his Twitter feed:

And to think, these two faced off in a World Cup final in 2010.
