Bookies: Liverpool FOUR times more likely to win league than Arsenal

Raheem Sterling And Rodgers

Liverpool and Arsenal are level on points, but there is one team far more likely to win the title than the other according to the bookmakers.

Arsenal's gradual slide from the summit of the Premier League has been matched by Liverpool's rapid ascendancy, the two teams level on 59 points.

It is Liverpool who sit second, courtesy of their superior goal difference of +38 to Arsenal's +24, helped by the 5-1 hammering at Anfield three weeks ago.

Manchester City have two games in hand, and it is they and Chelsea who are the bookies favourites to lift the Premier League title.

When it comes to the third favourites, you may imagine a close run thing between Arsenal and Liverpool considering they are level on points - but that's far from the case.

As illustrated by the latest odds on Oddschecker, Liverpool are the clear favourites to lift the trophy in May over the Gunners.

In fact in some cases they are ranked to be four times as likely as Arsenal to win the league.

With each of BetVictor, SkyBet, Bet365 and Betfair - Liverpool are 5/1 to lift the trophy, and Arsenal as long as 20/1.

Elsewhere make Arsenal 20/1 and Liverpool even shorter odds at 9/2.

In fact the shortest odds on the Gunners to now win the title are 14/1 with BetWay, with all others listing them at 16/1.

It shows the importance of momentum with Liverpool on a winning streak and Arsenal dropping points as they have done previously under Arsene Wenger at this stage of the season.

With Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea all up next in the league for the Gunners it's going to be a critical month - win all three of those and the prices will suddenly start dropping.

If there are Arsenal fans out there still adamant they can win the league - Now is the time to put money on it, although the form of Liverpool suggests the money may be better invested elsewhere...
