Hutton, is somewhat a forgotten man at Villa Park, and has been frozen out like Stephen Ireland, Shay Given and Darren Bent were by boss Paul Lambert. This is said to be partly because of the quartet’s high wages and the former Norwich City manager has deemed them surplus to requirements.
The former Spurs full back spent last season on loan at La Liga club Real Mallorca where he put in some impressive performances, but talks broken down over a possible permanent move due to the player’s wage demands.
The 29-year-old , who has made 38 appearances for Scotland, is said to welcome the move to the Championship club to get some more game time.
One possible issue is the current wage dispute that Hutton is currently having with Aston Villa. It has been reported that the two clubs were discussing possible avenues with regards to splitting Hutton’s £40,000-a-week salary.
Bolton manager, Dougie Freedman is hoping to complete the deal in time so the Scottish full back can feature in Saturday’s match with local rivals, Blackburn Rovers. Freedman has lost some of his most senior players in Matt Mills and Darren Pratley in recent weeks. The Hutton move would be some much needed experience for the Championship strugglers.
The Trotters were tipped to be in play-off contention this time around after an impressive finish to the end of last season. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been the case and the former Premier League outfit are languishing just above the drop zone.
