The rumours linking Victor Valdes to Liverpool could prove interesting if they were to materialise.
Not only would Liverpool be getting an experienced goalkeeper, held in high regard with an impeccable pedigree, but they would be getting someone who has been well established in a winning culture for so long.
Valdes may be regarded as a leader, someone who the younger players can look up to and Liverpool have been linked with a few Barcelona players that have come through the youth system though have struggled to establish themselves in the side of the star studded Spanish Champions.
Cristian Tello has been linked with a move to Anfield on several occasions, Bojan Krkic is another player whilst full back Martin Montoya has been on the Reds’ radar this season. Given Liverpool have been linked with a number of Barcelona players, one would think that Brendan Rodgers would like to have more than just the one of them.
There are some similarities to the way the two sides play, and if Liverpool were to land one of the more high profile figures of Barcelona’s most prolific glory years, there may be a few prospects who are not necessarily going to get the opportunity at the Nou Camp – who can easily do a very good job in the Red of Liverpool, even if it were only as a squad player.
Even with squad players, with Liverpool likely to involved in more competitions next season given they currently occupy a Champions League place, players that may have been unproven but have some quality about them could prove to be useful for a side fighting on all four fronts next season, and in keeping with the philosophy of the manager.
