A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.
Chelsea have been dealt a blow to any hopes of signing Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla.
The Blues, along with Liverpool, have been strongly linked with a move for the Croatian midfielder but he’s revealed he’s firmly committed to the Spanish club.
“I have great respect for Atletico but for me there is only one club – Sevilla. Currently there is nothing better than Sevilla and I do not think about anything. The talk about me is nice, but I do not care,” said Rakitic.
Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba plans on shocking his former employers when he returns to Stamford Bridge in March.
Drogba will be part of the Galatasaray side that travels to Stamford Bridge looking to edge the 1-1 last 16 Champions League tie.
“It will be a difficult game but at 1-1 the tie is still open. We’re going to go there and try to create a big surprise,” said the forward.
Chelsea icon Frank Lampard has called for leniency in relation to the fixture list.
The Blues take on West London rivals Fulham tomorrow just three days after their Champions League game at Galatasaray in Turkey.
“It's not ideal - I'm not trying to get one over on other Premier League teams, it just seems a general rule. There could be a bit of common sense if you are getting back at 6am,” Lampard told the Daily Mail.
