The on-loan stopper has stated that if the Santiago Bernabeu club hold an interest in him they must go through the west London club.
Thibaut Courtois’ future is a hot topic of discussion at the moment, with the Belgian goalkeeper excelling in Spain for Atletico Madrid.
With Chelsea loaning out the promising stopper to the Vicente Calderon outfit for three consecutive seasons, it is believed that Courtois has become somewhat disengaged from the Stamford Bridge club.
His performances for Atleti have resulted in him receiving widespread acclaim, with plenty of links to other clubs in the media.
Although Diego Simeone’s men are keen to keep him on a permanent basis, Real Madrid have been accredited with an interest in Courtois also of late.
The Chelsea man has spoken out about rumours linking him with a switch to Los Blancos, and admitted he was in the dark over his future.
“I’ve never heard of that,” Courtois told AS when asked about his feelings on being linked to Madrid.
“I am focused on Atletico and I belong to Chelsea.
“If someone in Europe wants to sign me they need to speak with Chelsea and the English club will decide what to do.
“Everything has to go by them and if it fails there is nothing there.”
Jose Mourinho will have a decision over Courtois to make in the summer, with the Portuguese coach needing to opt for either Petr Cech or the Belgian as his number one.
If Courtois is not brought back to the club as first choice, with his contract expiring there is every chance a Chelsea exit could be on the cards.
