Arsenal morning news: Cazorla to sign new deal as RVP is linked again

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates this morning.

The Daily Mail have reported that Santi Cazorla is all set to sign a new contract at The Emirates Stadium.

His recent good form is all set to be rewarded with an extension to his current deal - which runs until 2016.

Cazorla turned 29 in December - but The Gunners are prepared to give him a pay-rise and one year extension to that current deal.

Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky are also set to agree new deals - and all three contract renewals are expected to be announced at the same time.

The Metro report that Arsenal are all set to make a move to bring Robin van Persie back to The Emirates.

The report claims that a deal to bring their former captain back to North London is already in motion - and United could be willing to sell as part of a David Moyes reshuffle in the summer.

It has also emerged this morning that Luke Shaw was once an Arsenal starlet. At the age of seven the talented lad, who received his first call-up for the England national team yesterday, was a part of the Gunners development centre in Croydon and then Walthamstow.

However, they did not include him in their 20-strong academy squad and he instead went to Chelsea before joining Southampton at eight.

Any lingering hope Arsenal had of signing Alen Halilovic now appears to be over. The Croatian starlet, dubbed the ‘next Luka Modric’, has confirmed via his own Instagram account that he will become a Barcelona player in the summer.

He stated:

“Thanks Dinamo Zagreb for everything!! My first club and biggest love!! Now is time to move on to Barcelona.”

Barca were reportedly in Croatia yesterday - and it now appears as though they finally agreed the terms of a deal.

Tottenham were also said to be keen.
