Italian site tuttomercatoweb has claimed that the agent of Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o, Claudio Vigorelli, had dinner with Inter Milan Director Piero Ausilio over a potential summer return for the Cameroonian forward.
“In London, the technical director of Inter was having dinner with Vigorelli – discussing the summer where the position of Eto’o at Chelsea will be re-evaluated,” reads the report.
Eto’o was the recent subject of comments from Jose Mourinho, where the Portuguese coach implied he didn’t have a prolific striker available when he was caught talking in a conversation with Swiss individuals.
Eto’o is only signed up with Chelsea until the end of the season when Mourinho is expected to go out in the transfer market and invest heavily in a high profile striker or alternatively, handing a chance to on loan star Romelu Lukaku.
Either way, the fact he doesn’t believe Eto’o can be prolific for the club over the next few seasons suggests he’s not going to push for Eto’o’s contract at Stamford Bridge to be extended at the end of the season.
Agents talking with club officials is not uncommon and something which happens on a regular basis with those representing key stars.
The dinner between the pair could have been to do with something completely different but Eto’o does have an Inter Milan past and it’s conceivable that he’d head back to the San Siro for next season.
However, Eto’o could be left with egg on his face if he’s still at the Serie A giants after Mourinho admitted the only Italian club he’d consider joining over the rest of his career is, you guessed it, Inter Milan.
