Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Second defender this week hints he could leave Spurs

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly planning a move to sign Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado.

The Spaniard has struggled since he joined the club from Valencia last summer and could be offered a way back into La Liga.

TalkSport has suggested he could be used in part exchange to help Spurs land the talented Diego Costa.

Tottenham Hotspur star Kyle Naughton has hinted that he may have to leave the club at the end of the season.

Naughton has found regular football hard to come by in North London as he plays behind Kyle Walker at right-back.

“I am 25 and there is a stage that you reach when you think, 'Well, am I going to be No 1?' - I am not going to lie - I am a right-back. That is the position I want to play in, but it has been difficult with Kyle Walker doing so well,” he told the press.

Tim Sherwood has paid tribute to striker Jermain Defoe who is due to be given a send off this evening during the game against Dnipro.

Defoe is leaving to go and play in the MLS and Sherwood holds the forward in the same regard as club legend Jimmy Greaves.

“Jermain Defoe is, possibly along with Jimmy Greaves, one of the best goalscorers this club has ever seen. Let's hope we can find another one like Jermain Defoe because he is all about goals and he always played with all his heart whenever he put on the shirt,” said the boss.
