Chelsea and Twentieth Century Fox announced a landmark marketing deal this week that sees the Stamford Bridge club join forces with iconic and long-running cartoon show The Simpsons, a satirical look at middle class suburban life created by legendary animator Matt Groening.
It is not the first time football, or soccer, has been mentioned by the show, Pele drawn into a football match, featured in the Poke of Zorro and noted in Ned Flanders' list of laudable lefties. Even Cristiano Ronaldo, complete with diamond ear stud, turned up at Homer's front door once, kitted out in his Portugal colours and number 7 on his back, while Lionel Messi, too, has had the same treatment.
Now it's Chelsea's turn… with Petr Cech, Frank Lampard, Fernando Torres, Eden Hazard and John Terry all now part of The Simpsons canon.
Who do you think looks the best?
However, did The Simpsons miss a trick by not including David Luiz in their cartoonised versions of the Blues? He does, after all, look like a doppelganger of Sideshow Bob, voiced by Kelsey Grammar.
