A round up of the latest news stories and transfer rumours about Liverpool from the past 24 hours.
Suarez has also revealed a wish for his critics to judge him on his performances alone over a continuation of being demonised in the media.
“What I would love, something I’ve always said, is that they judge me as a player on the pitch. By what I do on the pitch. Anyway, it’s not good to read too much of what they say, because you know there are a lot of lies,” he told Sport Magazine.
“Liverpool is in the race and they have an advantage because it's the only competition they play. Overall, it will be very tight, I hope until the end because that means it will be close until the end and if you are consistent, you will have a good chance to win it,” said the Frenchman.
Luis Suarez has piled praise onto club captain Steven Gerrard. Gerrard played a key role in keeping Suarez at Liverpool when the forward could easily have left last summer.
“He [Gerrard] didn't talk about me, or through me, in the press, but in person. In those moments, I forgot that he was 'world football great Gerrard' - a Liverpool legend - but as a humble person who spoke to me with all his heart for hours,” he told FourFourTwo.
Kolo Toure has reiterated his belief that Liverpool’s back four need to improve over the rest of the season. The defence is one of the only areas of the team which has drawn criticism in recent weeks.
“We know we need to control games better than that as a team. If you want to be in the top four or win the league, you need to defend well. We are scoring a lot of goals but for sure we need to get a better balance,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
In transfer news, Brendan Rodgers is reportedly interested in signing Cardiff City captain Steven Caulker. Rodgers worked with Caulker during the pair’s time at Swansea City and the Telegraph reports he sees the defender as the player to come in and sure up his back four.
In another major story, Liverpool have been linked with a swoop for Barcelona’s Bojan Krkic. The Mirror has suggested that Liverpool could poach him for as little as £5 million when he was sold to AS Roma in a £35 million deal just three years ago.
Everton have reportedly won the race to sign talented teenage winger Stephen Kinsella. TalkSport has suggested Liverpool have missed out on signing the 15-year-old with the deal to go through in the summer and the player to move to Everton’s academy.
In a more light hearted story from today, former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has got a tattoo commemorating when he won the European Cup with Liverpool in 2005. Riise was the only Liverpool player to miss a penalty as the Reds defeated AC Milan.
