What a whirlwind week it has been for Joel Campbell. From being an afterthought where Arsenal were concerned, he is suddenly the man-of-the-moment after his starring Champions League display against Manchester United.
He's been on the back page of national newspapers in England at the right time, courtesy of that stunning goal against the Red Devils in their impressive 2-0 win.
His Twitter page has provided an interesting snap shot of the way he has been soaking up the praise.
He has been 'favouriting' congratulatory comments from Arsenal fans, including the Ashburton Grove blog, and from his proud fellow Costa Ricans.
Campbell also yesterday retweeted the official Arsenal football club Twitter message which included manager Arsene Wenger's comments on his prospects, showing he was certainly listening to what the Frenchman had to say.
"He was good, convincing going forward [against Man United]. He looks like he has adapted a bit better to the physical side of the European game.
“We always knew that he had the talent to create something special."
The youngster though has since moved to assure Olympiakos fans that he is not getting carried away, thinking beyond this current season, and his priority right now is helping the Greek side win as many games as possible.
Mi mente está con el Olympiacos. Me mantengo concentrado y sigo luchando My mind is with Olympiacos. I stay focused and keep fighting— Joel Campbell (@joel_campbell12) February 27, 2014
You could hardly blame him for getting a little carried away, but no doubt his agent has been telling him to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
There is an international break now before the second leg which will allow him to re-focus and gather his thoughts, and concentrate on further breaking United hearts in mid-March.
