Is this why Alvaro Morata wants to move to Arsenal?

Alvaro Morata has been linked once again with Arsenal, is there a clear reason why?

Spanish football pundit Guillem Balague claimed yesterday that Alvaro Morata has expressed his desire to move to Arsenal in the summer.

He stated via Twitter  that Morata will even push Real Madrid to accept an offer from the Gunners, who have been linked to him repeatedly over the past two months.

The under-21 international stated he wanted to stick with Madrid, even if he was only to play a 'minimal number of games'.

Well that's exactly what has happened. Importantly in reference to his previous statement, he made no clarification as to whether he was talking about this season alone, or beyond it.

For his lack of football appears on the face of it to be the premier reason why Morata would want a move to England.

Since the transfer window closed, Morata has not started a single game.

He has been overlooked in both La Liga and the Copa del Rey, and not played more than 20 minutes in a single game.

His record in February reads:

1-1 v Bilbao: Played 3 minutes

3-0 v Atletico: Played 17 minutes

4-2 v Villareal: Played 0 minutes

2-0 v Atletico: Played 0 minutes

3-0 v Getafe: Played 0 minutes

3-0 v Elche: Played 8 minutes

6-1 v Schalke: Played 0 minutes

It's clear he is featuring in Carlo Ancelotti's plans as a bit-part player at best, playing 28 minutes of a potential 630. With the younger Jese Rodriguez usurping him in the pecking order, his prospects appear bleaker. Unsurprisingly in those brief cameo roles, he has no goals and no assists.

Last night against Schalke in the Champions League he was not even named on the bench.

At Arsenal there would be no guarantees either, but if he wanted to roll the dice and take a chance elsewhere, with Madrid likely to chase a big name in the summer, you could hardly blame him.
