A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday ahead of their Europa League game against Dnipro.
Jan Vertonghen has said that Europe isn’t a hindrance to Tottenham’s ambitions this season, despite the poor record the team has after participating in the Europa League this season.
The Belgian defender is quoted in the Evening Standard, saying that it can provide the impetus required to get into the top four
He said: “It can give confidence and it’s good for us that we have this game. It’s good in every way. It gives us a chance to bounce back, maybe rest some players, give others a rhythm.
“I know the Europa League from my time at Ajax and it’s a nice competition. Sometimes it doesn’t show, because of the places you need to travel to, but it’s a good competition and last year everybody could see that.”
TalkSport is reporting that Serie A side Roma is eyeing up a move for the Belgian centre-back after he hinted recently that he may consider his future at White Hart Lane at the end of the season.
David Ginola has told goal.com that he doesn’t understand why the club would consider swapping Tim Sherwood for Louis Van Gaal at the end of the season, saying the current head coach should be given a chance to impress.
The Frenchman said: “You can always bring in the best managers or the best names around, but why don’t you trust Tim Sherwood for another three, four, five years?
“I don’t understand that. If he proves to everyone until the end of the season that he is capable of doing a good job at Spurs I don’t know why he shouldn’t have the job for another three years, at least, and work on the things he has been achieving so far.”
Chadli is quoted saying: “We have the quality to do it and we know we can make a difference at home with the fans right behind us.”
