Barcelona loanee Bojan Krkic has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Coming through the famed Barcelona academy La Masia in a time when Barcelona were at the peak of their powers, Bojan was destined for big things.
Now at 23-years-old, pundits and fans alike would have expected the former wonderkid to be leading the Barcelona scoring charts alongside superstars Lionel Messi and Pedro. However, for Bojan it has been a disappointing last few years.
Failing to break into the Barca XI, Bojan’s career has since taken a promising trajectory. A €12m move to Roma was followed by a loan spell at Milan, and after just over 50 games in Italy, he found himself back at Barcelona looking for help.
The Catalans decided to exercise his buyout clause, before loaning him out to Dutch champions Ajax this season. Yet, once again Bojan has lacked game time, starting just 12 games all season – and netting two goals.
A fresh start for the former prodigy is needed, and according to Spanish press, the Premier League could well be offering him a last chance saloon.
Elgoldigital claim that the Spanish U21 international is attracting the attentions of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur – two clubs who have a history of buying young starlets and helping them realise their potential.
Would a move to Spurs be a good idea? It would be risky, as recent foreign imports have failed to make much of an impact at White Hart Lane this season.
If Bojan needs any encouragement to try his luck on Merseyside however, he doesn’t need to look any further than the development shown by former Serie A lightweight Coutinho, a player similar in stature and ability.
Brendan Rodgers – a man who admits once wanting to applaud former great Deco in training – isn’t afraid of using small, technical players in the rigorous Premier League – and linking up with Bojan could finally help him realise the huge potential that he possesses.
