According to respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Leeds United are interested in 18-year-old defender Dario Del Fabro from Cagliari.
Leeds, per la difesa si punta su Del Fabro http://t.co/Zf37vcJM2m— Gianluca Di Marzio (@dimarzio) February 25, 2014
The young defender is renowned as an exciting prospect in Italy, playing at all levels in the Italian youth set-up from the under-16 side, right up to the under-19s.
He made his debut for Cagliari's first-team last season despite only being 17 years of age. He came on as a second half substitution against Italian giants and Serie A Champions Juventus, but unfortunately he was on the end of a 3-1 drumming.
The very next game he made his full debut for the club, playing the full 90 minutes in a tightly contested away match in Rome against another Serie A giant in Lazio. It was a game that unfortunately ended in defeat for the young defender as Lazio ran out 2-1 winners.
In the penultimate game last season, he came off the bench for a second time against Juventus, this time in the iconic Juventus stadium. He played a huge part in restricting them to just one point at home, which saw his reputation take off.
This season he has spent the majority of his time outside the first-team squad. However, he has made two starts for the club, with the first coming in a very good draw to title challengers Napoli and the second was an unfortunate defeat to relegation rivals Livorno.
The 6ft defender has a reputation of being a very good footballing centre-back, as well as being dominant in the air. He would certainly boost the situation at Leeds and offer good competition to Tom Lees, Scott Wootton and Jason Pearce.
