One game for £32m Arsenal, and Chelsea target to prove he is worth it?

Diego Costa

Diego Costa, linked to Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United has one glorious chance to justify the hype this weekend.

Almost all season long Diego Costa has been linked as a striker solution for Chelsea and Arsenal, owing to his £32 million release clause and his sensational goal record.

The Spaniard has recovered from a slow start in 2014 to hit four in his last seven games, taking his season tally to 26 goals.

He drew a blank however in the recent Copa del Rey clash with Real Madrid, pushed from pillar to post by the Los Merengues defenders who managed to throw him off his game.

He hit the winner over Real Madrid earlier in the season, but this upcoming tie against Real this weekend in La Liga is going to be a real test of character.

The hype around Costa has grown considerably since then, with clubs abroad said to be seriously considering stumping up the considerable money required for his release clause.

If there is a chance to show he is indeed worth £32 million plus a hefty wage packet - Sunday's clash with Real Madrid is the one.

The cameras, scouts, and the Real Madrid defenders will be focusing on him, and Costa has a chance to show the watching world that he is capable of influencing such a huge game at a crunch time of the season.

He featured last weekend as Atletico surrendered their lead at the top of La Liga to Osasuna, with Real leapfrogging them at just the right or wrong time depending on your perspective.

If Costa can fire Atletico to victory, just like Falcao did over Real in the Copa del Rey Final last season, and as he did earlier in the campaign - he will show his suitors that he really is a game changer they can rely on in crucial circumstances, and re-ignite his side's title charge.

The one thing Arsenal and Chelsea badly lack is a world class striker capable of driving them towards trophies, and not just one who can perform in easy circumstances.

Costa can display once and for all that he is that man at the weekend, and for all Atletico's recent noises about wanting to keep him, they may not be able to stop him moving on.
