In the summer of 2012 Manchester United were heavily linked with Sao Paulo wonderkid Lucas Moura - in fact it was public knowledge that United were after him.
The then 19-year-old however had more than just one suitor for his services - and the biggest rivals had plenty of capital to rival that of United’s.
In the end Manchester United failed to bring him in - with French financial powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain splashing out a whopping €45 million to get their man.
"I find it quite amazing that a club can pay €45 million for a 19-year-old boy. To make a mark on everyone - to tell everyone that PSG are here - they've signed Thiago Silva from Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They must have spent about €150 million in the last month. As you know, the only deterrent to that is UEFA. When somebody's paying €45 million for a 19-year-old boy you have to say the game's gone mad."
Lucas Moura however is probably wishing he went to Manchester.
His time at Paris has been frustrating. He officially joined up with the club in January 2013 - and went on to play a part in the end of season festivities at PSG.
But his first full season at the club has seen him struggle for regular football - and as a result he looks likely to lose his place in the Brazil quad for the upcoming World Cup.
Now it appears that PSG are considering their options over the player for next season.
Le Parisien claim that PSG will consider sending him out on loan for the 2014-15 season - and that Juventus, Inter Milan and Sao Paulo could be keen on taking him on board.
But should David Moyes revisit the player Fergie wanted?
Lucas is undoubtedly talented - and a player many a United fan would probably like to see come in.
But they already have an abundance of players who play in his position - with Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa, Adnan Januzaj and Ashley Young likely to have noses bent with his arrival.
However, if Moyes plans on letting Nani and Ashley Young go on their way in the summer there might just be room for Lucas to finally become a Red Devil.
