Mourinho’s long-term target and striking-saviour has ‘asked about Dortmund move’

Hulk playing for Brazil

Reported Chelsea target Hulk has reportedly asked about a move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Whatever you think of Jose Mourinho’s recently published quotes about his striking situation at Chelsea, there is no doubt the Blues are in need of a top-quality goal-scorer to put the finishing touches to the fine play of his impressive midfield.

For much of last summer, that man was tipped to be Brazilian striker Hulk, who added fuel to the fire when he said the following about the reported link with Chelsea:

If I said there wasn’t anything in it, I’d be lying.”

But nothing came of that, with the striker remaining at Zenit St Petersburg, where he has scored 13 goals this season – the latest in the 4-2 defeat against Borussia Dortmund in the last-16 of the Champions League.

And it is Tuesday’s opponents who may – if the latest report is believed – beat the Blues to Hulk’s signature.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola has published quotes from Dortmund player Sebastian Kehl, where he reportedly said, “Hulk wondered if he could play in Dortmund from the summer.”

Although he went on to joke as to whether or not Jurgen Klopp’s side had enough money to pay his transfer fee and wages.

And yet with Robert Lewandowski leaving for Bayern Munich at the end of the campaign, the Bundesliga side will be on the look-out for a new front-man, and Hulk certainly has the quality to replace the prolific Polish international.

Chelsea continue to be linked with the likes of Radamel Falcao and Diego Costa as well as Hulk. But if Mourinho does wish to be reunited with his former Porto player, he may have to ward off interest from last year’s Champions League finalists, if they are as keen as the striker appears to be on a move.
