PICTURE: Olympiakos nicked more than just a result from Manchester United...

Olympiakos won 2-0 over Manchester United in Athens on Tuesday evening in the first leg of their last sixteen tie in the Champions League.

Goals from Alejandro Dominguez and on-loan Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell saw the hosts stun the visitors leaving the Premier League champions with a mountain to climb in the second leg of the tie next month at Old Trafford.

The result however was not the only thing the Greek champions nicked from the English champions on Tuesday evening.

Home fans stole banners brought to the Greek capital by the travelling Red Devils fans and showed them off in photographs posted on Twitter following the hosts’ win.

United now have limited chances of progressing to the quarterfinals in the competition without having managed to score an away goal – it is by no means an impossible feat for David Moyes’ side to overturn the two-goal deficit at Old Trafford in March but they’ll need a performance of better quality than that on Tuesday night.

One thing’s for sure, United will need to reclaim their confidence and their pride to wear the badge in front of their home fans at the Theatre of Dreams for the return leg, even if their fans will be missing a couple of banners – a strong performance and a result to go with it will surely be enough to compensate those who travelled to see the game in Athens.
