Chelsea morning news: Inter Milan lining up move for Chelsea midfielder

A round up of key news stories this morning about Chelsea.

Inter Milan are reportedly lining up a bid for Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.

Mikel has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of Nemanja Matic and La Gazzetto dello Sport has suggested the Serie A giants are ready to move.

They will have to pay a reported fee of roughly €15 million to make a deal for the 26-year-old happen.

Jose Mourinho has suggested that his side can win the Champions League this season.

The Blues start their knock out campaign against Galatasaray this evening and Mourinho has said anything is possible in relation to their chances of winning.

“We are not favourites – that’s obvious – but I think when a team reaches the quarter-final anything is possible, so I think this round is very important for every team,” he told Sky Sports.

Fernando Torres has leapt to the defence of fellow striker Samuel Eto’o.

The pair have been frequently rotated in Chelsea’s attack this season, standing up recent Mourinho comments that he doesn’t have a consistent striker at the club.

“Mourinho has shown that everybody will get a chance and we've all been through the same thing. He likes to rotate the squad and shake up the team depending on the opposition. It's great, [Eto'o is] a genius. He's doing what he's always done, scoring goals,” he told Marca.
