Mesut Ozil has received backing from his national team coach after a difficult week. The £42.4 million summer signing from Real Madrid has been in poor form recently - and it culminated with a missed penalty against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
But amid reports of him struggling to make the Germany squad for Brazil - his national coach Jogi Low has stated:
“I’m counting on Mesut (for Brazil), because I know that he wants success in tournaments: he’s shown that in the past.”
It comes as Ozil himself has declared himself ready for the upcoming game with Stoke City. He missed the recent game against Sunderland with an apparent injury - but is raring to go:
"Back in training after my injury. Getting ready for the match on Saturday."
However the player himself has Tweeted his joy and pride at playing for Real Madrid - so this remains up in the air.
Lukas Podolski has stated that team spirit can help the club win the league title this season. Speaking to the club’s official website he stated:
"The team spirit is always good here, even after defeats. This is a great team - there's a good atmosphere between us and, up until now, we've had a super season. We need to keep that with us now.”
Mathieu Flamini has also been speaking to the official site - talking about his role in the team.
He said of his ‘dirty work’ job:
“When I play with any of the boys in midfield I have to sit in front of the defence and do the dirty work but I enjoy doing it. My pleasure is to give them the possibility to attack and, when we lose the ball, to get it back as quickly as possible.”
"It was a very important goal for me and for Olympiakos. I'm not thinking about Arsenal. Only Olympiakos."
